Carolinas/Virginia Pheasant and Waterfowl Society (CVPWS)

Our objective is to further the cause of aviculture by educating the members and public in preserving and the propagation of all varieties of pheasant and waterfowl, as well as other upland, aquatic, and ornamental birds. Assist breeders to secure stock and/or market for same. Protect the buying public from unscrupulous dealers and breeders who misrepresent or otherwise use unfair practices in dealing in game or ornamental stock. Cooperate with public and private groups in the furtherance of this society's intent. Distribute to members information on legislative matters that affect birds and breeders. The society sponsors meetings and other activities.

A LITTLE HISTORY

On a summers day in 1987, Dr. Mel Levine of Rougemont, NC paid a visit to Don and Wm. Butler's aviary in Bladenboro, NC to purchase a few birds. What started as a leisurely visit, feathered into friendly conversation of the possibilities of starting a bird club.  Thus began what is now known as The Carolinas/Va. Pheasant and Waterfowl Society.  After contacting several friends, it was decided to hold the first meeting at Dr. Levine's on October 27, 1987.  The membership was established on this day with 30 members.  From there other meetings were held and The Board of Officers and Directors were established as well as the Society's Objective and Constitution.  To date, the membership has grown to over 400 from many of our fifty United States.  With many dedicated members, this society has flourished and still remains to grow strong.
